Skin Tag on My Blue Heeler

My Blue Heeler has a skin tag.  I had the vet look at it, he say's it's most likely nothing.  However, it is getting very big and obviously bothering him.  He keeps licking and sometimes chewing on it.

Any advice?  Should I get it removed? Cry

Thanks!

I'm sorry to hear this.

I'm certainly no expert on this, and I tend to stay on the cautious side.  I think I would advise the vet that it has changed in size.  Have you noticed if it has changed in any other way…like the texture, shape, or color?

How old is your Blue Heeler?

Sending positive thoughts and hoping everything is going to be fine for both of you.

I did a quick search on skin tags.  It advises that if the skin tag is irritating your Blue Heeler that it might should be removed.

Here is some information…

Hi Sandra.  Thank you for the reply and the post.  Our Blue Heeler is about 12 or so.  Not sure of exact age because we got him from the pound.  The vet has looked at it and has advise it is most likely benign, but he cannot be 100 percent certain.  We have since been using a Funnel Head.  Sorry, not sure what the exact name of it is, but I think you get the idea.  Since we have been using that the skin tag has been getting smaller and is less irritated.  I will be taking him to the vet again next month for further advice.  I think we will just get it removed.  Thanks again for you help.Embarassed

You should watch out because it might get worse. My friend's Queensland Heeler has a skin tag before that got severe.
